We began to search for him, went to several Police stations. I personally went to SARS twice. My brother and other people also went there. We were told he was never in their custody.</p><p>“Now, April 26, 2019, we found his body in UPTH Mortuary. He was deposited there by men of SARS, Rukpokwu, by an officer named Samuel Sunday. We got this information from his fellow detainee, someone once detained by SARS. That is the person that told us the fate of our son and brother.</p><p>“So, we are here to tell the whole world what happened to this young man. My brother was a final year student of Uniport in the Faculty of Humanities. He was studying Christian and Religious Studies.</p><p>“We do not have details of the conclusive investigation report. It was not availed the family and that was part of what we told the panel today. We are demanding justice.</p><p>“The person who deposited my brother’s body in the mortuary is Samuel Sunday. As part of the investigation, we found out he was in company of one Mike, the team leader. There was another Friday Ikuku and there was Officer Wilson. Akin Fakorede was then the OC of SARS.</p><p>She further accused the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) of allegedly extorting N300, 000 to conduct autopsy on Solomon’s corpse and other money for logistics to enable them carry out investigation which report was never made available to the family.</p><p>Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry, Justice Chukwunenye Uriri (Rtd) adjourned till Tuesday, December 1, 2020, for cross examination of the witness and continuation of hearing.</p>

So they don’t feel like a box is walking in on them.</em></p><p><em>“There has been a positive response from patients.<br><br>“They saw the robot and weren’t afraid. On the contrary, there is more trust in this because the robot is more precise than humans.”</em></p><p>The remote controlled robot scuttles around the hospital on wheels.<br><br>The trial comes as Egyptian authorities confirm the country faces a second spike in cases of coronavirus.<br><br>In total, Egypt has seen 113,027 cases of the disease, with 6,548 deaths.</p><p>Source: Daily Star UK</p>

Atiku Tells APC, Presidency To Focus More On Nigeria’s Problems Than Him

<p>Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has enjoined the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Presidency to seek ways of solving the problems they created for Nigerians instead of focusing on him.</p><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img alt="" class="wp-image-653937" height="477" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 413px) 100vw, 413px" src="https://9jaflaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/images-2-4.jpeg" srcset="https://9jaflaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/images-2-4.jpeg 413w, https://9jaflaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/images-2-4-260x300.jpeg 260w" width="413"></figure><p>The former Vice President noted that the governing APC “has validated the assumption that the major reason the condition of living has been deplorable under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is on account of the fact that the party focuses more on playing petty politics than in actual governance.”</p><div align="center"><div class="clear"></div><div class="clear"></div></div><p>The APC had speculated that the plethora of goodwill messages sent to the former Vice President on the occasion of his 74th birthday anniversary was a precursor to his early campaigns for the 2023 presidential election.</p><p>But in a statement through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mazi Paul Ibe, Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) standard-bearer in the 2019 election, said: “It is preposterous that a political party, which has spent the past five and half years launching humongous and unprecedented hardship on Nigerians finds no time to address and apologise to Nigerians for the false promises of change that they made.”</p><p>He regretted that the governing party could shamelessly “waste a whole day self-adulating about politicians, who have crossed to join the APC,” noting that neither PDP nor Atiku has initiated discussions with anyone on a 2023 presidential run.</p><p>“It is APC, which has busied itself talking about zoning and focusing on rigging the next election. For the avoidance of any shred of doubt, Atiku, like many Nigerians, who are pained by the downward spiral of condition of the country under the APC government, has preoccupied himself with proffering solution to the myriad of problems the APC has visited on the country.</p><p>“It is evident that the APC has failed woefully in all the major issues it campaigned against the PDP in 2015 from poverty to insecurity; joblessness and high cost of living; national unity to bad foreign image; human rights abuse to economic recessions – issues which if the APC was a serious political party, should be dispensing its energy in resolving,” he stated.</p><p>While decrying the inability of President Buhari and APC to address the pervasive state of insecurity in the country and unite a sharply divided nation, Atiku lamented: “But, rather than do that, the APC is prancing about feeling good that its stock of membership is upping, while the economic profile of the country and its people keeps ebbing.</p><p>“Perhaps, we should remind the APC that focusing on Atiku will not improve the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or take the country out of the current recession; it will not create jobs for the youths of Nigeria.</p><p>Focusing on Atiku will not solve the problem of inflation and high cost of food items; and neither would it lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.”</p><p>Source:- Guarian</p>

<p>A 600-year-old Ife Terracotta which was smuggled out of the country in 2019 has been recovered by the Federal Government of Nigeria.</p><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img alt="" class="wp-image-654034" height="425" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px" src="https://9jaflaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/recover.jpeg" srcset="https://9jaflaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/recover.jpeg 636w, https://9jaflaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/recover-300x200.jpeg 300w" width="636"></figure><p>The Terracotta was formally received by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, from his Foreign Affairs counterpart, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, in the company of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Nigeria, Mr. Harry van Dijk.<br><br>While receiving the artefact in his office in Abuja on Thursday, Alhaji Mohammed said the return of the stolen Ife Terracotta marks a milestone in Nigeria’s efforts at pursuing the return of the country’s antiquities.</p><div align="center"><div class="clear"></div><div class="clear"></div></div><p><br><em>“It gives me profound joy to receive this very important antiquity, an Ife Terracotta, which is dated to be at least 600 years old. I am even more delighted that our efforts at pursuing the return of Nigerian antiquities, which we launched last November, have started yielding fruits,</em>” he said.<br><br>The Minister of Information and Culture said the government’s resolve to seek the repatriation of the nation’s timeless and priceless artefacts was strengthened by President Muhammadu Buhari’s marching order for Nigeria to tap into tourism and other fields, where Nigeria has comparative advantages, in order to generate income for the nation and secure jobs for our youths.<br><br><em>“One way of generating income for the country is if our cultural properties are exhibited around the world to a fee-paying audience, on the basis of the proper agreement that acknowledges us as owners and confers the right benefits on us. Lagos Police Inspector R*pes Undergraduate, Threatens Suicide

<p>Adelakun Amubieya, a police inspector attached to the Agbado Police Station, Lagos State Police Command, has been nabbed.</p><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img alt="" class="wp-image-654054" height="351" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" src="https://9jaflaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Amubieya.jpg" srcset="https://9jaflaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Amubieya.jpg 640w, https://9jaflaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Amubieya-300x165.jpg 300w" width="640"></figure><p>The man was arrested for allegedly raping an undergraduate, Joy (not real name), in the Ipaja area of the state.</p><div align="center"><div class="clear"></div><div class="clear"></div></div><p>PUNCH Metro reports that the suspect and the victim lived in the same compound on Abesan Estate.</p><p>The cop and his wife were said to have promised to teach the teenager how to make money with an application on her phone.</p><p>The 18-year-old, who went to the couple’s apartment on November 15, reportedly met Amubieya alone.</p><p>The policeman allegedly forced her into the bedroom and raped her.</p><p>Joy told PUNCH Metro that all appeals to the suspect to let her go fell on deaf ears.</p><p>Narrating her ordeal, she said, “Sometime in October, I came downstairs to receive a call due to bad network and I overheard the policeman and his wife talking about something, but I didn’t pay attention.</p><p>“When I was done with the call, his wife said their discussion was about a betting site and all I needed to do was to drop my details and I would be receiving N2,000 every three days. They said I must be 18 to play. I told them that I would return on Friday, November 13, when I would have clocked 18.”</p><p>The victim said after she returned from church on the Sunday of that week, she went to the cop’s apartment.</p><p>“I sat on the edge of the chair next to the door, while he sat on the chair near his room. He said he just woke up from sleep and I should come back later.</p><p>“I was about leaving when he called me back and asked what the time was. I told him it was 1.42pm; he said his wife would be back by 3pm. That was when I knew his family was not around. I stood up to leave and he told me to hug him, but I declined; he hugged me forcefully and dragged me into the room. He told me to lie on the bed, but I refused. He pushed me to the bed and started kissing and fingering me.</p><p>“I struggled to get him off, but he held my legs and had sex with me. I begged him to stop, but he didn’t answer me. I could not shout because I was scared of what he could do to me. He is a policeman and may have a gun in the house. Besides, people were making a noise outside, so no one would hear me.</p><p>“I told him to get a condom so he could get off me and I could look for what to do, but he didn’t answer me,” she added.</p><p>The victims’ father, who demanded justice, said when he got to know about the rape, he challenged the suspect, but he denied it.</p><p>“He said that my daughter was lying against him. I took my daughter to a hospital and some tests were carried out. I also reported at the Ipaja Police Station. Policemen were sent to his apartment, but he was not around. His office was called as well, and when they could not produce him, I reported to a rights group and we went to Mirabel Centre where tests were conducted.</p><p>“After they waited for him to show up at the Ipaja Police Station and he didn’t, the case was transferred to the Gender Unit at Ikeja. The man didn’t show up till Monday after sending people to beg me. When I asked him why he raped my daughter, he said it was the devil’s work. I want justice because my daughter is traumatised,” he added.</p><p>PUNCH Metro obtained a voice note the suspect reportedly sent to the victim’s father, begging for forgiveness.</p><p>Speaking in Yoruba, he said, “Please, I beg you in the name of God, treat me like a prodigal son that has offended his father. I don’t have anything to say before God and man because I know how you treat me and my family; you’re like a daddy to me.</p><p>“I’m begging you in the name of God and the creator of my children, mum and late father. I’m like the breadwinner of my family; if you continue to pursue this case, you want to make my parents cry, and you don’t want me to achieve my aim in life because this is becoming more than what I bargained for.</p><p>“If I cannot continue again, it will be okay to take my life, but who will take care of my children? There’s nobody. Please daddy, I beg you in the name of God, with the blood of Jesus, have mercy on me, tell me the way forward. I could not eat or drink since it happened. I have tried my best to talk to God; even if I bring a lot of people to beg you, it cannot equate my sin before you.”</p><p>The Executive Director of Esther Child Rights Foundation, Esther Ogwu, urged parents to be vigilant.</p><p>“I also want to advise parents to tell their children to be careful of where they go; they should not enter into people’s houses anyhow because it is dangerous,” she added.</p><p>The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, promised to react after getting full details.</p><p>He had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.</p>

For the avoidance of any shred of doubt, Atiku, like many Nigerians, who are pained by the downward spiral of condition of the country under the APC government, has preoccupied himself with proffering solution to the myriad of problems the APC has visited on the country.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">“It is evident that the APC has failed woefully in all the major issues it campaigned against the PDP in 2015 from poverty to insecurity; joblessness and high cost of living; national unity to bad foreign image; human rights abuse to economic recessions – issues which if the APC was a serious political party, should be dispensing its energy in resolving,” he stated.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">While decrying the inability of President Buhari and APC to address the pervasive state of insecurity in the country and unite a sharply divided nation, Atiku lamented: “But, rather than do that, the APC is prancing about feeling good that its stock of membership is upping, while the economic profile of the country and its people keeps ebbing.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">“Perhaps, we should remind the APC that focusing on Atiku will not improve the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or take the country out of the current recession; it will not create jobs for the youths of Nigeria.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Focusing on Atiku will not solve the problem of inflation and high cost of food items; and neither would it lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.”</span></p>
