While we'd all been hoping that WandaVision, the first Marvel series to make it on to Disney+ after all the schedule shuffling and production shutdowns of the pandemic would make it to screens before the end of the year, we're going to have to be a little more patient. Marvel has now announced that the show will land on 15 January 2021.
The basic setup for the show finds Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff (AKA Scarlet Witch) and Paul Bettany's Vision seemingly a happily married couple in an odd 1950s sitcom world, which then moves through the various ages of family TV. You have to wonder how they ended up there, especially given Vision's death in Avengers: Infinity War. Is it a parallel universe? Something to do with their incredible powers? We'll have to wait to find out.
What we do know is that Kat Dennings is back as Thor's Darcy Lewis, Randall Park is playing Ant-Man And The Wasp's Jimmy Woo and Teyonah Paris will be Monica Rambeau, now a grown woman after we met her in Captain Marvel. In terms of MCU tie-ins, there will be something to do with S.W.O.R.D. (the Sentient World Observation and Response Department we saw being set up at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home) and the plot will factor into Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness (though that might be toned down given the wait for the movie).
With Jac Schaeffer running the show's writing room and Matt Shakman directing, the show will, as mentioned above, land on 15 January.
